Drone and aerial13 of 18Worth it when the setting sells the stay: a view, a pool, a roofline, a lakefront.
Video12 of 18A walkthrough answers layout questions that stills leave open, and it travels well on social.
3D tours and Matterport6 of 18Lets a guest walk the property before booking. Strongest for larger or unusual layouts.
Floor plans6 of 18Answers the sleeping-arrangement question before a group has to ask it.
Twilight shots5 of 18One dusk exterior often becomes the cover photo, because lit windows read as welcoming.

Registration rules for short-term rentals in Houston

Houston requires each short-term rental to be registered with the city, and hosts must provide a City-issued registration number.

Checked 26 September 2026 against the city's own guidance: City of Houston, Short-Term Rentals. Rules change. Confirm with the city before you list, and treat this as a pointer, not legal advice.

How to choose a short-term rental photographer in Houston

The directory tells you who exists. This is what experienced hosts check before they book, and it applies whichever provider you pick.

  1. Ask to see a short-term rental shoot, not a house sale shoot. Listing photography for a sale sells square footage. Rental photography sells a stay. Ask for a full set from one Airbnb or Vrbo property, not a highlights reel of their best rooms across twenty jobs.
  2. Agree the deliverables in writing before the shoot. Number of final images, resolution, whether you get both a web-sized and a full-size set, turnaround, and what a reshoot costs if something was missed.
  3. Check the licence covers the platforms you use. You need the right to use the images on Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, your own site and in paid ads. Some photographers licence for a single listing by default.
  4. Book the light, not just the day. Interiors in a bright room and a twilight exterior are two different times of day. If you want both, that is a longer booking, and it is cheaper to plan than to repeat.
  5. Prepare the property as if a guest were arriving. Beds made with the linen you actually provide, surfaces clear, bins hidden, bulbs working and matched in colour temperature. Mixed bulb colour is the most common reason a room photographs badly.
  6. Tell them what you are selling. The workspace, the coffee setup, the parking, the hot tub, the view. A photographer who knows your three strongest selling points will build the set around them.

Other areas these photographers also cover

Taken from the service areas each business publishes on its own site. The number is how many of the 18 providers on this page say they travel there.

Travel beyond a provider's usual radius often carries a fee. Confirm it when you ask for a quote.

Common questions

How much does Airbnb photography cost in Houston?
Each photographer sets their own prices and this directory takes no commission, so we do not publish a rate. What moves the price is the size of the property, whether you add drone, video or a floor plan, and how quickly you need the files. Ask two or three of the 18 photographers listed on this page for a quote: every profile links straight to their own site.
How many photos does an Airbnb or Vrbo listing need?
Cover every room a guest can use, plus the kitchen, each bathroom, all sleeping arrangements, outdoor space and anything you advertise as an amenity. A studio or one-bedroom is usually covered by 20 to 30 images. A larger house needs more, because guests scroll until they can picture themselves in the space. Your photographer will advise on the exact count for your property.
How quickly can I get the photos back?
None of the photographers on this page publish a delivery time, so ask before you book. Agree it in writing, especially if you are trying to get a listing live for a particular weekend.
Do I need drone shots or video for a short-term rental?
In Houston, 13 of the 18 photographers listed here advertise drone work, 12 advertise video and 8 advertise 3D tours or floor plans. Drone earns its cost when the setting is part of the appeal, such as a view, a pool or a lakefront. A floor plan helps most for larger properties and groups, because it answers the sleeping-arrangement question before a guest asks it.
How should I prepare the property before the shoot?
Treat it as a guest arrival: everything clean, every surface clear, beds made with the linen you actually provide, bins and personal items out of frame. Replace dead bulbs and match the bulb colour across a room, because mixed lighting is the most common reason images look off. Open blinds fully, and tell the photographer which amenities you want featured, such as a coffee setup, a workspace or parking.
Are these photographers vetted?
They are listed because their own website publicly advertises short-term, vacation-rental or Airbnb work, and we record the page and date we checked. That is a factual check, not a judgement of quality, and it is not an endorsement. Listings marked claimed or verified have been through the extra steps set out on our listing policy page. Always look at a portfolio yourself before you book.
